Sinn Féin Councillors on Causeway Coast and Glens Council have welcomed an extraordinary audit of the council at the direction of Sinn Féin Minister for Communities Carál Ní Chuilín.
The party’s council group leader Leanne Peacock said:
“Sinn Féin has been calling for a forensic audit of Causeway Coast and Glens Council for some time now due to serious concerns about financial management and land disposal processes.
“I welcome this intervention from the minister which will see a full extraordinary audit of the organisation with a focus on land disposal and easement processes.
“The minister has asked for this audit to begin at the earliest opportunity and this move is essential in ensuring that public money is protected and ensuring good governance and high standards in local government.
“We will await the outcome of this extraordinary audit and continue to push for accountability and good governance in local government.”
