Sonya Cassidy PR has been shortlisted for two public relations awards at the 2017 CIPR Northern Ireland PRide Awards.

The agency’s campaign for Bishop’s Gate Hotel, A Derry Landmark Reborn, has been shortlisted in the Corporate and Business Communications category, while Sonya Cassidy has been shortlisted in the Outstanding Independent Practitioner category.

The prestigious CIPR PRide Awards recognise the outstanding talents and achievements of public relations practitioners across the UK’s regions.

Commenting on this year’s shortlist announcement, Sonya Cassidy, Managing Director, said:

“We’re very proud to work with Bishop’s Gate and its award winning team. Insight and research were used to develop a strategy that raised awareness, educated key stakeholders and built advocacy. The communications programme has been an integral part of the business. Within the hotel’s first year of trading it exceeded both occupancy and business targets projected in the corporate plan. Naturally, we’re thrilled that the communications programme for Bishop’s Gate has been shortlisted at this year’s CIPR PRide awards, as it has been an award winning year for the team. Earlier this year TripAdvisor unveiled the UK’s top 25 rated hotels in the annual Travellers’ Choice Awards, and Bishop’s Gate Hotel took second place on this coveted list.  The hotel recently featured in The Irish Times – ‘100 Best Places to Stay in Ireland’, and it’s also been voted ‘Hideaway of the Year’ in a Georgina Campbell hospitality guide”.

It has been an exciting year for Sonya Cassidy PR. The agency scooped a ‘Rising Star’ award in the Business Start-Up category in April 2017 and was highly commended in the Next Generation Category at the Family Business Awards in June 2017, organised and hosted by Business First. The annual ‘Rising Stars’ awards showcase a range of Northern Ireland organisations that have demonstrated sustained growth rates.  Attracting business entries across many sectors the awards celebrated excellence in five categories: Start-Up; Micro Businesses; Small Businesses; Not for Profit/Charity and Professional Services.

Commenting on the shortlisting in the Independent Practitioner category at this year’s CIPR PRide awards, Sonya adds:

“To be shortlisted for a PRide Award is a hallmark of your commitment to excellence and best practice. Recognition for your effort is always satisfying, but it means much more when it comes from industry peers who are benchmarking best practice. I’m genuinely delighted to be shortlisted in the Outstanding Independent Practitioner category.  I believe Sonya Cassidy Public Relations works to exceed clients’ objectives and having this recognised by others within the industry is encouraging. Winning a Rising Star award earlier this year was a fantastic achievement for the agency. I take pride in the service that we provide to clients and I firmly believe that our relentless drive to deliver outcomes is valued by our loyal client base. The agency has won a number of competitive pitches and awards since it was launched in 2012. The team is flexible, skilled in multiple areas of communications and importantly mobile so they can meet the needs of clients across Ireland and Great Britain”.

This award winning practitioner, who has also been recognised by Business First and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations develops, executes and evaluates communication strategies and crisis plans for clients in the public, private and voluntary sectors across Ireland and Great Britain.

Clients span a range of sectors, from Telecommunications to Hospitality, Education, Food, Beverage & Agri-Business, Manufacturing and Healthcare, Consumer Products & Services right through to Energy & Utilities.

The 2017 CIPR Northern Ireland PRide Awards will take place on Friday 13 October 2017 at the Culloden Estate & Spa, Belfast.
