A spokesman for Council said today: “Mid and East Antrim Borough Council would encourage all those involved in sports in this Borough to get behind their sport and their athletes, coaches and volunteers and nominate them for one of the nine awards to be decided upon and presented at the awards ceremony.”

He added that the categories are varied: Junior Sportsperson of the Year; School Sporting Performance of the Year; Manager/Coach of the Year; Sportsperson/Team with a Disability; Veteran’s Award; Team of the Year; Services to Sport; Sportsperson of the Year and Sporting Hall of Fame.
