NORTHERN IRELAND’S only children’s hospice will receive a ‘caffeine boost’ on the first day of every month thanks to a new initiative by the global coffee brand Starbucks.
A number of local Starbucks outlets will donate 10p from every cup sold on the first day of the month to help Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice continue its palliative care work for babies and young people in hospice and their homes throughout the country.
This is the latest fundraising initiative undertaken by Starbucks – the world-renowned franchise has already completed a series of fundraising activities such as a quiz night, golf tournament, raffle and a staff summer BBQ throughout 2016 – raising a whopping £16,419.00 for Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice. The three-year partnership, which began in 2015, aims to raise at least £50k for the charity.
Paula Galloway, Starbucks (NI) District Manager is confident that the initiative will boost Hospice Funds.
Paula said: “We are delighted to continue our support for Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice. The following stores which will be donating 10p from every cup sold on the first day of the month are; Foyleside Shopping Centre and Crescent Retail Park, Junction One, Rushmere Shopping Centre, Coleraine, Newry and Banbridge. We are confident that this initiative will help us reach our fundraising total of 50k for the charity. I’m urging everyone to get behind Starbucks and support this initiative. Your support will provide a vital lifeline to babies and children living with life-limiting conditions”.
Katie Pollock, Head of Fundraising at Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, explained that the initiative will enable the charity to continue to provide specialist palliative care and respite breaks to over three hundred babies, children, young people and their families.
Katie added, “It costs approximately £3.5million to run our Children’s Hospice services each year. Whilst Hospice care is free to the patient, it is not free to provide and therefore the charity relies heavily on the support of the public and corporate partnerships. As a corporate charity partner, Starbucks has exceeded all of our expectations. Their commitment and enthusiasm to engage with Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice from the onset has been commendable and we wish them the best of luck with their fundraising activities for 2017”.
