1 Mins read

A court has heard a “steak knife” allegedly caused a laceration to a female in an incident last New Year’s Eve.

Ian Ireland (60), with an address given as Coleraine Road in Portstewart, is accused of attempted murder.

The defendant appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday via video link on Monday from Maghaberry Prison where he has been on remand.

A defence solicitor previously told the court there could be a lesser charge.

A prosecutor said medical evidence is awaited.

The case was adjourned to July and the defendant was further remanded in custody.
