The Police Service of Northern Ireland has made a number of new appointments following a recent promotion process resulting in a new District Commander for Causeway Coast and Glens.

Superintendent Ian Magee takes on the role from today (October 5th) however is already well known in the local community having served in the District for the last four years.

Speaking about his appointment Superintendent Magee says: “I am absolutely delighted to have been given the opportunity and privilege to lead the policing effort in what I think is one of the most beautiful places in the world, Causeway Coast and Glens. I live in the community and being part of it, in addition to working in it for 4 years, has provided me with valuable insight into the many differing needs and issues.

“I can use this to build on the foundations laid, not only in my previous role as the Engagement Chief Inspector but also by my predecessor, Superintendent Jeremy Lindsay, and work with my team of highly committed officers and police staff to deliver a high quality service that is visible, accessible, responsive and community focused. To be successful I need the community to work in partnership with the police, providing information and ideas, moving forwards together with the shared aim of keeping people safe.”

Chief Superintendent Davy Beck is the new Area Co-ordinator who will lead and support the District Command Teams in Causeway Coast and Glens, Mid and East Antrim, and Antrim and Newtownabbey.
