
A man was convicted at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court today for claiming over £15,000 in benefits he was not entitled to.
Martin McAuley (46) of, McAuley Park, Ballycastle, claimed Income Support, Housing Benefit, Jobseeker’s Allowance and Carer’s Allowance totalling £15,720 while failing to declare employment. He was given a five month prison sentence suspended for three years. The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department.
