A man was convicted at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court today for claiming over £4,350 in benefits he was not entitled to.
Alastair Lennox (51) of Mussenden View, Coleraine, claimed Carer’s Allowance and Housing Rates totalling £4,350.47 while failing to declare employment. He was given a three month prison sentence suspended for one year. The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department.
