Tail light issue attracted police to drink driver

AN issue with a tail light attracted police attention to a vehicle which was then was driven erratically and went round a corner at speed onto the old bridge in Coleraine and the driver was found to be over the limit.

Martin Robinson (38), of Ballyness Park, Coleraine, was detected after 11pm on March 3 this year, Coleraine Magistrates Court was told.

When the vehicle pulled in for police at Strand Road Robinson was “irate and agitated”.

He had an alcohol/breath reading of 57 with the legal limit being 35.

The defence solicitor was Denise Gillan.

The defendant was banned from driving for a year and fined £200.
