The sky’s the limit for a talented Broughshane singer

A video by Rachel Frew singing Dancing in the Sky by Dani and Lizzy is earning rave reviews.

Seventeen-year-old Rachel Frew who has sung at local events and weddings has said that she always wanted to do something with her voice but didn’t know how to get herself out there.

She said: “Since lockdown, a few of my friends asked me to sing for them to keep them entertained, so I thought, why not. I created a YouTube channel and Facebook page. I honestly never relieved how many people would see it and I am grateful for all the support I’m getting and it is really encouraging me to do more.”

Rachel is currently studying travel and tourism level 3 at Northern Regional College.

She added: “I have been singing since I was younger and when the lockdown is over I will be getting my grade 8 in singing musical theatre.

“I have sang at events and a few weddings and always wanted to do something with my voice but didn’t know how to get myself out there.

“Now that lockdown has happened a few people I know asked me if I would sing for them to keep them entertained so I thought, why not post on Facebook and maybe let a few more people see but I never realised how many people would see it and I am so grateful for all the support I’m getting and it is really encouraging me to do more.

“I will be uploading a few days a week and hopefully people will enjoy my covers. Also I decided to upload on Facebook and YouTube because I know some people who don’t have Facebook and I know some people who don’t use YouTube so it can be a way for everyone to see my covers.”

Rachel said that she will be uploading more covers in the coming days.

The Dani and Lizzy version of Dancing in the Sky has over 26 million views on YouTube but Rachel’s version is already racking up views..
