In a social media post this morning Constable Verner said :

“On Saturday 10th December 2016 a local farmer from the Rasharkin area reported the theft of cattle to Police.

Enquires into the theft suggest that thieves have used a vehicle to enter the yard on the Gortahar Road and taken a Black and White Frisian Bullock valued at approximately £1000. We are appealing for information in relation to any suspicious vehicles in the area, particularly anything capable of moving livestock.

If you believe you can help, please call 101 and quote reference number 711 from 10/12/16 .

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind local farmers to ensure their paperwork is up to date and they are conducting regular checks on their livestock numbers. It will help greatly if you have your transfer papers and heard number handy. PSNI continue to work with DEARA to conduct stop checks on livestock being moved to ensure all is regular.

If you have any concerns, please contact 101 and ask to speak to our Crime Prevention Officer to see what we can do to help eliminate livestock thefts.”
