On Saturday 17th September, the Coleraine Coastguard Rescue Team and Portrush Inshore lifeboat were tasked to the Ramore Head area, following a report of a small motor vessel in difficulties.
On arrival, the Coastguard Team located the stricken vessel and ascertained that the three anglers on board had managed to scramble to the safety of the rocks at the base of Ramore Head. The three men had had a lucky escape when their vessel had lost the ability to manoeuvre, and had then been swamped by the heavy swell.
The ILB managed to get a line attached to the now half submerged craft and tow it to Portrush Harbour. With Coastguard and Lifeboat assistance, the craft was recovered at the slipway.
Appropriate safety advice was given by the Coastguard Team.
