Top Marks For Golden Beaches – Holmes

1 Mins read

Cllr Richard Holmes has welcomed results from the Better Beaches Forum which indicate that seven of the beaches along the Causeway Coast & Glens Council’s coastal line have met the Excellent Quality standard.

Cllr Holmes said: “The north coast is the quite rightly one of our greatest tourist attractions and our stunning beaches are a key component of this great offer.
“The Better Beaches Forum aims to improve water quality, beach cleanliness and improve information. The fact so many of our beaches have been awarded Excellent Quality is a testament to the great work being carried out by Council and the various agencies tasked with maintaining our beaches.

“But this is not a question of resting on our laurels. There are challenges amidst the report and work has to be done to improve Portrush Curran from Sufficient Quality to stand proudly alongside our other beaches.

“For anyone who has ever walked along one of our beaches with the waves lapping at our feet, this award is not a surprise. We are all privileged to live so close to such an amazing and well-kept phenomenon.”
