East Londonderry MLA Maurice Bradley was contacted by residents in the area who raised concerns about a bus stop being removed from the popular route.

Responding to the MLA, Sam Todd, Coleraine’s Translink Manager advised that one of the two stops at Greenmount Drive had been removed due to safety concerns.

Mr Todd said that the stop would be reviewed again in 2018, and that he would also look into enhancing the service to take in more of the housing development in the new year.

Commenting, MLA Bradley said: “We were contacted by a number of bus users from Greenmount who were concerned that a stop had been removed without any consultation.

“I understand that the removal of one of the stops was a road safety issue.

“This popular bus route is used by many elderly people, who rely on the service to go about their day to day business. The passengers said that they would benefit from the bus taking in more of the housing area.

“I would like to commend Sam and his Translink staff, they are always keen to listen to the views of bus users and try to accommodate passengers in any way that they can.

“I will look forward to touching base with Mr Todd again in the new year to see what proposals he can bring forward.”
