THREE people appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court today to face charges connected with a double stabbing of two women in the town.

Two women were injured in an incident at Beresford Avenue in Coleraine on Sunday January 13 this year.

A 17-year-old youth has previously been in court charged with attempted murder.

Now, two men have been charged with obstructing police and withholding information.

Mark Burns (20), with an address at James Street in Coleraine, and Jake Peacock (18), of Rinvarna Court in Coleraine, are both charged with obstructing police and withholding information on January 14 this year.

Also on January 14, Burns is further charged with possessing cannabis.

Meanwhile, Burns is also accused of causing criminal damage to the window of a Citroen car belonging to a female on Valentine’s Day this year.

Also in the dock was Fiona Joan Munro (34), of Mount Street in Coleraine, who is accused of intimidating a witness on January 13 this year.

A police officer said she believed she could connect the defendants to the charges. The three defendants were each released on £500 bail with conditions. One of Burns conditions is that he has to reside at Bushmills Road in Coleraine.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old boy already charged in connection with the incident was further remanded in custody on Monday.

The youth – who cannot be named because of his age – is accused of attempting to murder two women. He is also charged with two counts of possessing an offensive weapon – a knife – with intent to commit attempted murder on the same date.

The youth appeared via video link from Woodlands Juvenile Justice Centre where he has been on remand.

His case was adjourned to April 8.

The court heard forensics in the case are not due to later in April.
