BT Coleraine

TWO people have appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court in connection with drugs charges and have had their cases sent to Antrim Crown Court.

They are Samantha Jane Elliott (31), with an address listed as Knockbracken Drive in Coleraine, and Ryan Laverty (29), with an address listed as Parklands in Ballymoney.

They are both accused of possessing cannabis with intent to supply; being concerned in the supply of cannabis and possession of cannabis.

The charges relate to October last year.

During a Preliminary Enquiry – the legal step to send a case to the Crown Court – a prosecutor submitted that on the basis of the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.

A defence lawyer had no contrary submissions and District Judge Peter King said a prima facie case had been established by the papers before the court which was sitting in Ballymena.

The cases have now been adjourned to Antrim Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
