Two taken to hospital following Coleraine RTC

Two people have been taken to hospital following a road traffic collision on the Castleroe Road in Coleraine earlier this afternoon.

Police closed the road for some time to allow emergency services to work at the scene.

A spokesperson for The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said ‘We received a 999 call at 16:37 following reports of a Road Traffic Collision on Castleroe Road, Coleraine.

First reports indicated that two patients were in the car which was on its roof.

NIAS despatched a Rapid Response Paramedic and two Emergency crews to the scene. The Charity Air Ambulance, with the HEMS crew on board, was also tasked to the incident.

Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene both patients were taken to RVH in Belfast- one was taken by road ambulance and the other was taken by the air ambulance.”

Commenting Councillor Philip Anderson said ‘Our thanks to the emergency services PSNI, NIAS and air support for their prompt roadside assistance.’
