THE Windyhall and Tullans Community Association took a break from delivering vital supplies to the vulnerable residents to encourage people living in the area to take part in national acts of remembrance and celebration at their own homes.
A spokesman for the Association said: “The 75th Anniversary of VE Day is a historic moment in our nation’s history, and a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure victory, democracy and liberty.
Community residents have been encouraged, weather permitting, to hold private garden parties maintaining social distancing to commemorate the anniversary, 75 years on from VE Day, is still celebrated.
“We have erected red, white and blue to the estate, and encourage residents to take part in the Royal British Legion’s Stay at Home Street Party initiative.
“Also, as a way of celebrating our brave essential workers and the NHS, we have erected a special banner across the Hall Road.
“We also encourage residents to record their celebrations one Face Book, or send the on to the Association’s Face Book Page.
“We wish everyone an enjoyable VE Day.
“Lest we forget.”
