A 63-year-old woman who previously had pleaded guilty to stealing £1,300 from the bedroom of a house at Kilcreg Park in Ballycastle in a “breach of trust” was, on Monday, given a seven months jail term, suspended for three years.

Margaret McKendry, of Carnduff Park near Ballycastle, committed the offence on May 3 this year.

An earlier sitting of Coleraine Magistrates Court was told the defendant had a previously clear record.

A defence barrister had told that court it was a “breach of trust case”.
