A woman caught drink driving near Coleraine said she had been out for the night and had arranged to stay with a friend but took to the road after receiving a phone call that her child was unwell.
Lisa Thompson (23), of Rosseden Park, Limavady, was caught at 12.40am on May 15 this year.
She had an alcohol in breath reading of 77 – the legal limit is 35.
Defence solicitor Paddy McGurk said the defendant worked in a restaurant where she was “very highly regarded”.
Regarding the date in question she had “foolishly in the heat of the moment” started driving and in hindsight realised it was not the thing to do.
At Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday District Judge Liam McNally said it had been a high reading but he took into account a previously clear record and a guilty plea and had also considered a reference handed into court.
The defendant was banned from driving for a year and fined £250 and will have to re-sit her test.
