Woman is accused of assaulting police and being disorderly as she celebrated her 18th birthday

A woman has been accused of assaulting a policeman and being disorderly in Portrush while she was celebrating her 18th birthday.

Amy Cassidy, of Slaghtneill Road near Maghera, appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday to face three charges.

She is accused of being disorderly in a public place at Bushmills Road in Portrush on April 10 this year.

She is also accused of assaulting a constable and resisting the same officer in the execution of his duty.

The court was told the defendant was out for her 18th birthday on the date in question.

The defendant was given £500 bail and the case was adjourned to May 20.
