A woman who ran to a neighbour’s home to ask for cigarettes after being told she was being arrested then struggled with and swore at police officers, a court has heard.

Lynn Evelyn Corscadden (54), of Ballyness Park near Coleraine, assaulted a constable and was disorderly at her home on April 3 this year.

At the time she had been on bail for other offences which were dealt with recently at the Crown Court where she was given two years Probation.

A prosecutor told Coleraine Magistrates Court on October 22 that at 9.20am on April 3 police attended an address and the defendant was verbally abusive to officers.

When she was told she was being arrested she ran into a garden and knocked on her neighbour’s window asking for cigarettes.

She then ran back into the house where she shouted “F–k you, you black b–tards” and struggled as she was being handcuffed.

When cautioned she denied assaulting police.

At court she pleaded guilty to the offences. Defence solicitor Garrett Greene said his client had spent a period of time in custody.

He said she had mental health issues. Corscadden was given a three months sentence, suspended for two years.
