A woman who had been accused of assaulting a policeman and being disorderly in Portrush while she was celebrated her 18th birthday has had the three charges she faced withdrawn for a caution.

Amy Cassidy, of Slaghtneill Road near Maghera, appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday.

She had been accused of being disorderly in a public place at Bushmills Road in Portrush on April 10 this year.

She was also accused of assaulting a constable and resisting the same officer in the execution of his duty.

A previous court was told the defendant was out for her 18th birthday on the date in question.
