World Host training completed ahead of the Irish Open

1 Mins read

A World Host training programme has been held for tourism and hospitality staff from across the region ahead of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open.

It was organised by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council in association with Tourism NI.

Tailored with the golf tournament in mind, the training took place at Flowerfield Arts Centre in Portstewart with over 35 people receiving certificates.

These were presented to participants at a recent reception hosted by the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Joan Baird OBE.

She said: “I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to our latest certified World Hosts. Our hospitality and tourism industry continues to go from strength to strength, and this is thanks to the hard work and dedication of our front line staff. The Causeway Coast and Glens is looking forward to welcoming thousands of visitors during the tournament, and beyond.”

The training programme included a bus tour around the park and ride sites, and an orientation visit to Portstewart Golf Club. It provided participants with logistical details on arrival points for visitors, information touch points and the role of volunteers during the event.

In recent months, over 100 people have been trained as World Host Ambassadors, making the Causeway Coast and Glens a truly welcoming destination for visitors.
