Police yesterday morning took to social media to ask for some help identifying 5 youths who attempted to damage a defibrillator at the spar Knocklyn road, Coleraine.
The incident happened about 20:30 on 31/10/16. The youths (4 girls and 1 boy) lifted the defibrillator from the wall and threw it across the car park. Police say that the defibrillator was not damaged and is still in working order.
Commenting on the issue, a police spokesperson said “This particular defibrillator was funded by patrons of Spar shops and provides an invaluable service to your community. We would urge all parents to explain to their children the importance of this sort of equipment and how interference with it really can be the difference between life or death.”
Police later yesterday evening thanked the public who took interest in the request to identify the youths and believe they have identified those involved and will be dealing with them appropriately.
