Locals call on council to take swift action

A number of Portstewart residents have called for swift action by Causeway Coast and Glens to make the Crescent area of the town safe following the extensive damage caused by Storm Franklin.

One local man described it as a ‘health and safety concern’ adding: “The area is hazardous and needs to be cordoned off by the council.

“The playpark and Crescent area in general is in a state of disarray with rubble and debris, it is a major concern to many of us.

“When we were walking past we actually saw some children down in the middle of it because there are no safety barriers to cordon the area off.

“Safety should be a priority for the council, this needs to be addressed immediately.”

The gentleman added: “The Met Office have issued a yellow warning for more strong winds on Wednesday and Thursday, making this area safe and secure must be a priority.”
