A man in his 40's, understood to be from the Ballycastle area has died following an incident off the Knockagh Road in Carrickfergus this morning.
Emergency services including the NI Air Ambulance responded to the scene shortly after 9am.
It is understood the man became trapped under a heavy vehicle.
A NIAS spokesperson said "NIAS despatched one Emergency crew, two Rapid Response Paramedics, a HART team and the Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS on board were also tasked to the incident. No one was taken from scene."
Police remain at the scene and the Knockagh Road remains closed.
Mid & East Antrim Councillor Mark Collins said "This is heartbreaking news to hear that a man has sadly lost his life as a result of this incident.
"My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the gentleman involved at such a difficult time. I would also like to pay tribute to all of the emergency services, including the Air Ambulance crew, for all their efforts."
The HSENI said it was “aware of a workplace incident in the Carrickfergus area, and is making enquiries”.
