Man in court over murder of Victor Hamilton in Ballymena

A 33-year-old man appeared in court this morning charged with murder.

Mario Menezes with an address of Portmore Street, Portadown, County Armagh appeared from Laganside via videolink before Antrim Magistrates' Court sitting in Ballymena accused of murdering Victor Hamilton.

The body of the 63-year-old victim was discovered on the driveway of his home in Orkney Drive of Ballymena on Wednesday.

Menezes only spoke to confirm the charges against him.

A detective sergeant believed he could connect the defendant to the charges.

None of the facts were opened in court and the case was adjourned to August 25.

Menezes was remanded into custody.

Mamadu Saido Djalo, of Springfield Crescent in Belfast, appeared via videolink yesterday at Coleraine Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena on the same charge.

He was remanded in custody to reappear next Monday, 8 August, for a bail application.
