A leading local company has joined the impressive community effort to help Mid and East Antrim Borough Council deliver essential services and support to the vulnerable and in need during the Covid-19 crisis.
Parr Group, who are specialists in mechanical and building services, are providing vehicles and drivers free of charge to the Council as they work to ensure food parcels are delivered to people shielding in their homes on medical advice, and to those most at risk of food poverty.
Council staff, community groups and volunteers from throughout the borough have rallied together to help those in need, with hundreds of boxes of supplies distributed.
Cllr Gregg McKeen said: “Throughout the Coronavirus crisis, we have been continually impressed by the level of community spirit which exists in our borough.
“We are delighted that Parr Group have got in touch to offer their help as we work to get food parcels to those who need them.
“From the very beginning of this emergency, we have seen the best of people shining through, from members of the public, sports clubs and community groups, to private companies and businesses.
“We are grateful to all those who have been pulling together to help in these difficult times.”
The food parcel service is part of the emergency response for those who are in critical need of food and have no other means of accessing it, either through deliveries, or help from family and friends.
