Detectives investigating a report of a robbery at commercial premises in the Antrim Road area of Ballymena this evening (Friday 1st May), have arrested an 18 year old man.
Detective Sergeant Lenaghan said: “Shortly after 6pm, it was reported that a male entered a Filling Station armed with an iron bar. It is believed the male went behind the counter and took a sum of money from the till. Two staff members, a male and a female who were inside the shop at the time were both pushed in the back by the male armed with the iron bar. Although badly shaken by the incident, it is not believed either were seriously injured.
“A short time later, officers located the male and recovered the money taken during the incident. He was arrested on suspicion of robbery and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
