Cara Hunter MLA completes swimathon for Women’s Aid

Cara Hunter MLA has this evening successfully completed a swimathon to raise vital funds for Women’s Aid NI.

Women's Aid is the lead voluntary organisation in Northern Ireland addressing domestic abuse and providing services for women and children.

Ms Hunter swam 14 miles (22,530 metres) in both pool and open water over a period of 14 days.

The MLA at the start of the fundraiser said that "having witnessed firsthand the incredible support Women's Aid staff provide for vulnerable victims and survivors, she saw how necessary the resource was for so many."

With an initial goal of raising £200, Ms. Hunter thus far has raised a staggering £2,545 with donations still coming in.

In a social media post she expressed her gratitude to those who supported and donated over the last two weeks.

The GoFundMe page will remain open for another seven days.  Click here to donate
