American War Memorial at Cromore House refused listed status.

The Northern Ireland Environment agency has confirmed that the American War Memorial at Cromore House in Portstewart will not be made a listed building.

It currently enjoys listed status as part of the Cromore House listing, but, concerns were raised when plans to sell and potentially redevelop came the house came to light. A request to list the memorial separately was then submitted on behalf of Portstewart Royal British Legion.

After evaluation, the NIEA decided against the listing, claiming there isn’t enough historical or architectural interest in the memorial to make it a listed building.
