Bail Refused for Bushmills Teenager

1 Mins read

A teenager from Bushmills was refused bail when he appeared in front of North Antrim Magistrates Court via video link on Monday, 2nd March.

18-year-old Nathan McIntyre was charged with attempting to cause GBH, driving while unfit and possession of Class B drugs. On top of this, he is charged with driving without insurance, driving without a license, driving whilst unaccompanied, possessing and supplying a Class C drug, assaulting a police officer and criminal damage.

The charges are related to an alleged incident that took place on February 16th of this year when Police pursued a car which turned in to a picnic area. The car accelerated through grass and a man jumped out before the car allegedly drove towards officers and crashed in to a sign. A bag containing £2000 worth of cannabis was recovered at the scene.

Police objected to bail on the grounds that Mr McIntyre, who has 25 prior convictions may offend again if he is released, or fail to turn up for court.

The Judge refused bail because of the likelihood that McIntyre would commit further offences and remanded him in custody until March 30th when he will again appear via video-link.
