1 Mins read

A Coleraine man has received a volunteer of the year award from the charity, Epilepsy Action Northern Ireland. David Gilmour was presented with the award at a ceremony in Leeds last week.

David became involved with Epilepsy Action Northern Ireland after developing epilepsy in the early 1990s. He helped set up the Causeway Epilepsy Branch and was chairperson for a number of years before leaving to go to university full time.

After gaining a degree, David became a researcher for George Robinson MLA and now actively campaigns for better services and planning for people with epilepsy across Northern Ireland. Working with Epilepsy Action NI Manager, Morina Clarke, he was instrumental in setting up the Epilepsy All Party Group that is now in place at the Northern Ireland Assembly.
