Woman ‘confirms involvement’ in hoax bomb alert at Armoy

A WOMAN with a Stranraer address has “confirmed” involvement in a hoax bomb alert in Armoy in 2019, Coleraine Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, was told this week.

Christina Saul (35) is accused of communicating false information to a PSNI call handler that a ‘bomb’ was present at Fairhill Street in Armoy on August 31, 2019.

She is also accused of making a threat to the PSNI on October 26, 2017, a car and a dwelling at Fairhill Street would be damaged.

A prosecutor said the case involved 999 calls.

Defence barrister Alan Stewart said the defendant was interviewed and “confirmed her involvement” in the 2019 incident with “substantive mitigation” but denied involvement in the 2017 incident.

The defendant has yet to formally enter pleas to the charges.
