Limavady woman has been given a £250 fine for throwing an egg out of a window as a band parade was going past.
Dannielle McGinley from Connell Street was sentenced this morning at Limavady Magistrates Court.
The court heard that an egg was thrown from an upstairs window when a band parade was going past on Connell Street on December 13, 2014. Police investigated after a verbal complaint was made, McGinley admitted throwing the egg, claiming it was an accident as she had been having an egg fight with a friend.
A verbal complaint was made and, when police investigated, 23-year-old McGinley admitted throwing an egg out the window by accident, and said she had been having an egg fight with a friend.
The court heard police found a broken egg inside the flat.
A solicitor for the prosecution said it was a “reckless throwing of the egg” and a defence solicitor said that McGinley had been messing about in her flat with a friend, that she had been drinking and that there was no sectarian motivation.
District Judge Liam McNally told McGinley that she was lucky the Prosecution had said it was a reckless, and not sectarian attack.
McGinley must pay a £15 offender levy on top of the £250.
