Competition and Markets Authority block merger between Sainsbury’s and Asda

1 Mins read

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has blocked Sainsbury’s and Asda’s £10bn merger after finding it would lead to increased prices in stores, online and across petrol stations.

The CMA said it wanted to “protect the millions of people who shop at Sainsbury’s and Asda every week”.

Sainsbury’s said it would not appeal against the decision.
