Daithi McKay allegedly ‘coached’ Bryson before NAMA hearing

1 Mins read

North Antrim MLA Daithi McKay has been accused of a severe breach Committee Protocol after it was revealed by The Stephen Nolan Show that Mr McKay had been coaching Loyalist Blogger Jamie Bryson on how to present evidence to the Finance Committee relating to the sale of the NAMA Portfolio by the Irish Government.

It was revealed this morning that Mr McKay, who was chair of the Finance Committee at the time was in close contact with Jamie Bryson over Twitter. Transcripts obtained by Nolan show that Mr McKay put Bryson in contact with a “Sinn Fein member” named Thomas G O’Hara who told Bryson how to present his evidence, and when to name Former First Minister Peter Robinson in the allegations.

The Irish News understands copies of private messages, using Twitter direct messages, were leaked after one of those engaged in the communications accessed their iCloud account from a shared computer.

In one private message to Mr Bryson, the North Antrim MLA said: “Send me a draft of the letter you are sending. Keen to get you into public session.”

It is alleged that Mr Mckay saw Bryson’s evidence up to three days before it was presented to the committee.

Daithi McKay declined to give comment to the Nolan Show this morning.
