Detectives are questioning two men on suspicion of assault and aggravated burglary

Detectives are questioning two men on suspicion of assault and aggravated burglary following an incident in Magherafelt overnight.

Shortly after midnight it was reported that three men had forced their way into a house in Ashgrove Park. They attacked the 34 year old male occupant with weapons, believed to be bats or iron bars, before fleeing.

The two suspects, aged 33 and 34, were located by police a short distance away and arrested.
