Royal Marine Ciaran Maxwell pleads Not Guilty to Drugs and Fraud charges

Ciaran Maxwell, a Royal Marine from Larne who was arrested in Somerset, England on August 24 appeared in court today charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply and bank card fraud.

The 30-year-old, who pleaded not guilty to both charges was arrested last month in connection with two arms dumps found near Larne earlier this year.

The BBC reports that Mr Maxwell’s charges include manufacturing explosives, making devices and storing them in hides. He is also charged with obtaining articles for use in terrorism and having an image of an adapted police pass card.

Maxwell was not asked to enter a plea on the above terrorism charges. He will next appear in court on 19th September.
