1 Mins read

Police investigating the report of a man being assaulted in the Paxton Street area of Belfast on Sunday night have arrested three men.

Sergeant Jenny Foster said: “We received a report at around 10:20 pm that a man had been assaulted by a group of men armed with baseball bats a short time earlier.

“The man suffered injuries to his face, arms and his chest.

“Three men aged 20, 25 and 31 were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing an offensive weapon. The three remain in custody at this stage.

“Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who may have seen a silver Renault Megane in the area at the time, or anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has information which may assist our investigation to call us on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference 1646 of 19/04/20.”

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
