Tourism Ireland, together with eight tourism companies from the island of Ireland – including the Bushmills Inn and HMS Caroline – is preparing to blitz four cities in the UAE and India later this month, as part of its 2016 sales mission to grow tourism from both markets. The organisation held a briefing, for the tourism operators who will participate in the upcoming sales mission.
The sales mission – which takes place 25-30 September – will target top travel agents and tour operators in the key cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi (UAE) and Mumbai and New Delhi (India).
The objective is to engage with UAE and Indian travel professionals who are currently selling Northern Ireland and the island of Ireland, or who have strong potential to sell the destination – and to encourage them to extend their Northern Ireland offering, or to include Northern Ireland for the first time, in their brochures and programmes for 2017. Business links between the Northern Ireland tourism companies and the influential travel professionals in these markets will be strengthened during the sales mission, through a busy programme of workshops, presentations and networking events.
Commenting on the upcoming sales mission, Siobhán McManamy, Tourism Ireland’s Director of Markets, said: “Our sales mission is a key element of our promotional programme in the UAE and India. It will give our tourism partners a platform to inform and influence the travel trade in those markets about what Northern Ireland and the island of Ireland have to offer and, importantly, encourage them to include the destination in their brochures and programmes. Tourism Ireland is committed to growing visitor numbers to the island of Ireland from emerging tourism markets and our sales missions play a significant role in helping us achieve this goal.”
In 2015, we welcomed approximately 25,000 visitors from India and approximately 65,000 visitors from the Middle East to the island of Ireland.
