Two important Ballymena car parking facilities will be upgraded in the New Year as ‘pay and display’ operations.

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council has invested in new equipment to allow drivers easier access to the existing Church Street 1 and Church Street 2 Car Parks – both of which are accessed at Meeting House Lane – although fronting onto Church Street.

A spokesman for Mid and East Antrim Borough Council’s Car Parking Services said: “New pay and display equipment has been installed in both facilities this week and barriers removed so that users can more easily access the two car parks.

“In common with the current arrangements at the nearby Church Street 3, from Tuesday, 3 January users will be required to pay their parking in advance, rather than on exit, and display their ticket for authentication. (Monday is a Public Holiday).

“Along with the ongoing ‘five hours for £1’ parking offer, this 2017 development should be a welcome addition to facilities for shoppers and business people alike when parking in the town.”
