'No deal has yet been done' - Barry's Portrush

The owners of the popular Barrys Amusements in Portrush have shot down reports that the attraction has been sold.

Yesterday it was reported that the historic 2.23-acre site was sold to property developer and former KFC tycoon Michael Herbert, however a spokesperson for the Trufelli family who own the site and Savills both say that no deal has been done.

The Trufelli family, which owned the venue since it opened in 1926, had originally hoped it would be sold as a going concern, however, it was remarketed as a development opportunity in May 2021.

The PR firm for Barry's Portrush this afternoon said that "no deal has yet been done – if and when any sale completes the family will first tell staff and then release a statement."
