Causeway Councillor Mark Fielding has welcomed the news that the Big Wheel will be in place this summer at the Crescent Portstewart along with the return of the popular week-long Red Sails Festival.
The application was given approval this afternoon by the planning committee.
Speaking to Causeway Coast Community in the last few minutes Councillor Fielding said "This is good news for Portstewart that the Panoramic Wheel has received planning application and in the same week of the announcement that Portrush's iconic family attraction Barry's Amusements is to open again under new operators Curry's Fun Park.
"As someone who encouraged the Panoramic Wheel to first come to Portstewart in 2019 I am pleased that it will be in place again this year and in time for the return of the popular week-long Red Sails Festival. With the re-opening of the famous Portrush Amusement park, I have no doubt that these family attractions will be welcomed back to two of the Borough's popular resorts, as we look forward to a busy summer in Portstewart and Portrush and across the Causeway Coast."
