Police are appealing for information following a report of an assault in Coleraine shortly after 11.30pm on Monday, 27th December.
The victim has been named locally as Michael Martindale.
Sergeant Halligan said: “It was reported just before 11.35pm that a man was found by a member of the public after being assaulted in the Long Commons area.
“The male, who is aged in his 60s, sustained injuries to his face and head during the incident and was taken to hospital.
“It is believed four males were involved in this incident.
“Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have any information which could assist with enquiries, to contact 101, and quote reference number 2175 of 27/12/21.”
