In a statement posted to social media this evening, Portrush RNLI said this;

Portrush Volunteer lifeboat crew have returned to station after a shout to just beyond Malin Head to assist in the rescue of 5 fishermen whoose trawler had lost power at approx 2pm this afternoon.

The trawler had also had the wheelhouse windows shattered due to the severity of the weather conditions. This was a joint recovery operation with our flank stations RNLI Lough Swilly and RNLI Arranmore.

Portrush crew have returned to station with one crew member having sustained an injury due to the very difficult weather conditions. The crew member has been transferred to hospital for assessment.
