Owners Teresa Carter and Mike Masey opened ChocoLoons in October 2017 having had a passion to create a child friendly space in Coleraine town centre where children can find toys to enjoy and have fun by exploring and learning through play.
Such has been the success of the business ChocoLoons has moved into larger premises enabling them to expand the amazing range of stock in store.
Teresa explained: “During lockdown when we were unable to open our shop we had to diversify and so we worked very hard doing free deliveries all round the Triangle area and as far as Ballymena and that helped create more business for us when we reopened and more brand awareness further afield.”
ChocoLoons has been described as an ‘Aladdin’s cave’ with toys of every make, shape and colour suitable for newborns right up to nine and ten. Some ‘big kids’ have also been spotted in store buying their Premier League Cards, but we won’t tell!!
“We like to think ChocoLoons is a safe and friendly space,” said Teresa. “We try to offer as much help as we can. We also do a lot of sensory products and we provide a lot of toys and products that aren’t available in typical toy shops such as the jewellery we import from America. That is the type of jewellery you can chew which is suitable for children with sensory issues. We are also here to offer a lot of practical advice as well as support parents.
“We try to be inclusive to everyone and that was one of the reasons we wanted to expand. We wanted to be able to accommodate wheelchairs or double prams so that everyone can enjoy ChocoLoons.”
Within this wonderland for children you will find beautiful reading books with signing and Makaton, stunning Fair Trade wooden toys alongside the bigger well known brands such as Vtech and Lego as Mike and Teresa aim to support smaller UK businesses and offer something unique and original.
Teresa added: “We offer the complete experience, from the toys to cards and also our new gift bag range.
“We have also extended our children’s wear and we have extended our outdoor toy range with everything from tractors to scooters.”
“Another exciting development coming soon to ChocoLoons is the Buddy Bears room which will offer a crafting experience for children and we are very excited about that.
“We are looking forward to the launch on the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend, hopefully we will see many of our former customers as well as new faces come in to see us.”
There is no doubt ChocoLoons is a magical experience for children and adults alike so pop along for the launch of their new store on June 3 and 4 and say hello.
