Dervock pip Articlave

Dervock Reserves 2 – Articlave 1

An eagerly awaited return to action for both teams due to the adverse weather conditions in recent weeks, and it was the Reserves who made the ideal start early on.

Owen McLaughlin won a free-kick on the left side which young Corey Jamison whipped into the near post, and after a fumble from the Articlave ‘keeper Steven Campbell turned in the loose ball to make it 1-0.

The impressive Jamison was soon involved again when he played a dangerous ball over the top of the opposition defence and Jamie Connor held off the attentions of his marker to lob a tidy finish over the advancing goalie to make it 2-0.

Dervock however, seemed to lift their foot off the gas as Articlave began to probe and cause the home defence some problems, Michael McDaid and Regan White with some neat hold up play and darting runs in behind respectively.

>As the Reserves became nervous, Articlave capitalised when Connor McCoriston ran onto a short back pass to round the ‘keeper and pull a goal back just before half-time.

The second half turned into a nip and tuck affair with both teams creating chances, White and McDaid going close for Articlave, and McLaughlin with a screamer of a free-kick crashing against the Articlave crossbar.

With Steven Campbell and Danny Holmes also going close for Dervock, Articlave pushed for the equaliser which would take the game to extra time, but the ‘wee Reserves’ held on to make it to the next round.
