Sinn Féin MLA Philip McGuigan has said last night's Spotlight programme was disturbing and shocking and has raised serious issues for the PSNI Chief Constable.
The North Antrim MLA said:
“The programme highlighted issues of sectarianism, misogyny and bullying not to mention the obvious lack of performance and accountability of some PSNI officers locally.
“This is completely unacceptable and will reinforce public opinion on the performance and culture of local policing & further erode public confidence.
“Sinn Féin will be meeting with senior Police locally and will be raising the contents of the programme with the Chief Constable. The accusations detailed are clearly unacceptable.
“The type of culture described in the programme cannot be tolerated within any police service whose duty it is to protect citizens and to be representative of society as a whole.
“It’s vital for public confidence in policing that the PSNI is transparent, accountable and fair.”
